Excuses, excuses.
I've been trryyyyiiing to post. Really, I have. But every time I sit down at my computer, my keyboard and most of my monitor become instantly barricaded by a dark and extremely restive ball of fur, also known as Shasta. Wherever she may be prowling, the sound of my computer revving up for action or of my office chair squeaking into use draws her to my desk like a (insert overused metaphor here). Even now, as I try to write, she is pacing back and forth in front of me, leaving a trail of fine hairs on my computer screen, butting my hands from the keys with her head, and making her presence all-too-annoyingly known.
I plop her back on the floor, but a moment or two later, there she is again. She picks at my sweatshirt with the claws we really must get around to capping. She nudges her head against my chin, then plunks herself down in the space between keyboard and monitor. While she is somewhat less obtrusive there, she can't resist swiping at my typing fingers with her paws and wiping the screen with her ever-twitching tail.
I try taking a quick break to scratch her head and stroke her sleek fur. But to pay her a bit of attention serves only to intensify her demands for more. Only when I abandon all efforts at computing and return to the couch, the better to shower her with caresses, does she deem my company unworthy and prance back to her favorite spot downstairs. And so I return to my desk . . . as does Miss Shasta.
So you see, it's not planning a wedding (and honeymoon!) or taking a trip to DC or getting my house under contract (yay!) or writing briefs or trying to get my training schedule in gear that's keeping me from the blog. It's just a little Pasta Cat.
